Compress PDF

Reduce PDF file size by enabling object-stream compression, stripping unused objects, and dropping non-essential metadata. For deep image re-encoding, see Phase 2 server tools.

100% in your browser. Files never uploaded.

How to use

  1. 1
    Drop your PDF
    Up to 100 MB.
  2. 2
    Toggle metadata stripping
On by default — most PDFs include creator/producer strings worth dropping.
  3. 3
    Click Compress
Re-emits with object streams. Reduction varies by source — typically 5–20% for already-modern PDFs, more for older or hand-written ones.

FAQ

Why isn't the reduction bigger?
Image re-encoding is where most savings come from on photo-heavy PDFs, and that needs a server-side decoder. Browser-side we can only do structural compression. A server-backed deep compress is on the Phase 2 roadmap.
